A plantation of monoculture is not a forest , it's a green desert
Monoculture tree plantations are contributing to the loss of natural habitat and adding to the distruction of biodiversity, - the inhabitants -, to the 'elimination' of 'Pests' ( pest for the timber industry means wildlife like baboons are 'causing blemishes in the final wood planks )
Driven by subsidies , claiming to be sequestering carbon, are instead contributing to the problems. Nature services and 'carbon sequestration' are the result of thriving, biodiverse ecosystems: it's the aboundance of life that we need to charish and support. Large scale industries are profiting by subsidies and exports, but in so doing are undermining local life and threatning traditions ways of life and decreasing the ability of the land to support human communities
